As was widely reported, the demonstrations were prompted at a religious observance by a Sunni cleric, the minority faction that ruled Iraq under Saddam. Of course, the cleric would love to be the new leader, but would have no chance under a democracy.

One would think from reading this board that the majority of Americans are anti-war/anti-Bush. But the polls indicate the opposite by far. Oh yes, I forgot. One can never overestimate the stupidity of the general public. What an elitist view of reality.
