well once you're in, you're in. that's really the point isn't it? there's not much alternative but dealing with the same messy realities and political stances that all existed before this war when things were spun to present such a simple, 'unavoidable' occupation. Mr. Colbert was being funny. He was, in his own way, commenting on the same 'Alan Jackson' type attitude that recently polled that 63% of Americans don't care that no weapons of mass destruction have been found. I tend to agree with the editorial page of the NY Times and even George Will has taken the time to point out how critical this issue is. I can't believe I'm living in a country that gets more worked up when a president dallies with an intern than it does when another president dallies with the truth to invade and occupy another country. 63% of the American people might not care, but I tend to agree that our credibility with our allies (et al) has been severly damaged.
