Hi Salil

The problem with taking over from a liberal administration like Clinton's is that we have to do the best we can with the mess that Clinton left us. We still have the best intelligence in the world but it could be so much better had the Democrates not plundered the HUMENT side of the community. We could also rotate our troops over shorter periods of time had Clinton not cut all four services in half during his administration. As a result, our troops must serve longer and take greater risk because replacement troops aren't there in the numbers necessary to get the job done. That's just more damage to our country's security that this administration must repair in order to accomplish the mission. That is the "present" we must live with because of liberal incompetence. Don't worry, it may take a few years but the Bush administration will repair the damage over time.

"My impression was that you care very much about your ex-colleagues in Armed Forces. I can't figure it yet as to how you are supporting the sacrifice of those lives based on questionable intelligence coming from crippled service."

Simple, the military are professionals. They have won the war with Iraq in minimum time with minimum casualties both to themselves and to civilians. The campaign was brilliant and will certainly be recorded in the history books. Sure, we have taken additional casualties (last count was 34 due to hostile action) since the fall of Sadaam and we'll take more. It's called LIC (Low Intensity Conflict) and our troops have been training for this type of conflict for 20 years, primarily at Ft. Polk, La. The troops understand this type of warfare is dangerous and understand that they would rather fight these folks in Bagdad than in the streets of New York, Chicago or Dallas where their famalies may be located. The military understands that if we don't go to them, the enemy will come to us as they did on 9/11. It may take some time but they will get the job done.

Cheers
