As I told, in the morning, here is a little bit of information about Copyright.

The information below sheds more light on the second paragraph of the Disclaimer - as to why we must not copy any material which is or may be copyrighted by someone other than the participant him/her/them self/ves. It also clarifies the paragraphs 2, 4 and 5 of the Rules.

The para 2 of Disclaimer says --->

By submitting the post(s) on 'FundVision Discussion Board' the participant(s) grants/grant Salil V Gangal the copyright of the material submitted within the post(s) and any charts/graphics presented within the post.

Why ? One may ask. I'm a participant - I write something creative - Why should I grant Salil V Gangal the copyright ?

The answer is - Backup/Restore/Archive/Movement. Whenever I do any of the operations that involve backup, restore, archive and movement (movement e.g. from FundVision to FundVision and unfortunately back), essentially what I am doing is a file copy operation. In effect I am making a copy of the original work submitted by the 'fundvisionaries' - something I can do only if the visionaries grant me the copyright. As you know, these operations are essential for the normal functioning ... And that's the reason why I need the copyright.

Why para 4 and 5 of Rules ?

Because that's 'Fair Use', which is permitted.

Examples of fair use include the quotation of excerpts from a book, poem, or play in a critical review for purposes of illustration or comment; quotation of short passages in a scholarly or technical book to illustrate or clarify the author's observations; use in a parody of some of the work being parodied; summary of a speech or article, with brief quotations, in a news report; and reproduction by a teacher or student of a small part of a work to illustrate a lesson.
