people haven't had to spell quagmire since Vietnam, and it may not be as fitting in the desert as it was in the jungle, but I saw a news report this week where the first and biggest problem of rebuilding Iraq is that years of Saddam's 'leadership' has eliminated any initiative on the part of its citizens. The whole nation is sitting on its butt PO'ed at the US for not putting things right again (except for those few who are actively opposing US occupation).
now we see exactly why GW, undoubtedly at the instigation of his advisors, opposed the entanglements of nation-building.
as Stephen Colbert mentioned on 'The Daily Show' rebuilding is for losers, and we won.
